The Imaginero

The Illustrations

In creating the illustrations for the Heart of the Imaginero: Little Wood Carver story-on-video and its forthcoming picture book version, El Milagro de los Azucenas, the tradition of wood carving served as the inspiration. Using the form of the retablo (painted scenes on wood panels) and enhanced with carved details and dimensional details such as tin milagro charms, the story comes to life through the craft itself. Below are a few examples from the project.
