Dear Friends,

¡Saludos! I hope you are having a great summer so far. There are no complaints on this end. Spring took its sweet time and blended beautifully with a lazy, languid summer. No severe atmospheric changes and no before-its-time, clothes-stuck-to-your-body heatwaves either.  So with all the authority that I don’t possess, I declare this one an almost perfect summer. Well, maybe a tad too much rain but I’m not complaining (I do declare, I love rain)…

It is also with great pride I announce that Exit Studio’s web site has been honored yet again, this time by Escape to Puerto Rico, which bestowed on us its “Follow Your Senses” Award, given for excellence to the best sites on Puerto Rico. We previously received that honor as a “Tesoro on the Web” from Sofrito for Your Soul (founded by George Torres). We would like to reciprocate with our respects to these two sites since we think they are “kickin’.” We strongly encourage you to visit and support them!

In our pursuit of new ideas, we are introducing for the first time our own brand of clothing.

Exit Studio ApparelHere at Exit Studio everything is as sleepy as the two cats perching on my bed right now. But this lack of activity to the naked eye is simply masking the production cycle for our new series scheduled for arrival next spring and fall. In the meantime, in our pursuit of new ideas, we are introducing for the first time our own brand of clothing. This new line is designed and inspired by Puerto Rico. Our women’s line “Preciosa” is based on one of our most popular prints (originally designed as a backdrop for a theatrical presentation). This beautiful watercolor depicts some of the island’s most beloved cultural icons--from the vibrant flag to a romantic street in Ponce. Our baby line “My Little Coquí” features that cheerful mascot on tiny tees and bibs! For men, we have a bold tribute to “Borinquen” on sporty tees and sweats. Our designs can also be found on articles for the home and office--from coasters and pillows to mouse pads and tote bags. We will be adding more designs and products soon. In our next issue, I’ll tell you more about what’s in store for the fall and spring.

For the time being here’s my advice: live in your shorts and flip-flops; go to the beach; have a tropical drink (print out our recipe); go to the beach (again!); pick up a book and read to your kids (or have them read to you). Have lots of safe fun and remember to stick with us.

¡Hasta la vista, baby!

Edwin
