Hadas, Sirenas y Sapos

Edwin Fontánez's new book of illustrated original poetry in Spanish

"Hadas, sirenas y sapos is a collection of enchanting poems written and illustrated by Edwin Fontánez which transports the reader to fantastic places where magic comes naturally: little frogs that serenade the moon, mermaids frolicking over sea waves, and fairies fluttering about creating mischief in the forest. The current lack of Spanish children's poetry does not leave much room where children can let their imagination fly. Fortunately, Fontánez has arrived just in time with his beautiful bouquet of poems." —Review by Christianne Meneses Jacobs, editor IGUANA magazine (Jan. 2009)

A Special Tribute

Hadas, Sirenas y Sapos is dedicated in memoriam to a very special young man, Luke Carter-Schelp. One of his many talents was writing so in celebration of his life we'd like to share this poem he wrote.

I Once Had a Statue

I once had a statue.

Not an ordinary statue,

A statue that was very special to me.

A leprechaun named Bon-Bon

Stood about three inches tall

With a beard as red as the setting sun

And as long as a river.

Little lifeless figurine

Looking as happy as can be

With a pipe in his beard

And shades on his eyes

The little guy was bright as night skies.
